WHY MUSICOLOGY

A Music School Built on Real Industry Experience

Musicology was created to give students something most music schools cannot offer, real insight into how music works beyond the classroom.

Founded by Jeff Hanson

Musicology was founded by Jeff Hanson, a respected music industry executive with decades of experience discovering, developing, and managing major artists.

Throughout his career, Jeff has worked closely with artists who went on to shape modern rock and popular music, including Creed, Paramore, Sevendust, and Taylor Swift.

His experience in artist development, touring, and the music business provides Musicology with a unique perspective that connects music education with real-world experience.

Musicology brings that knowledge into the classroom to help students grow not only as musicians, but also as creative individuals.

Real Music Industry Insight

Many music schools focus only on learning an instrument. Musicology goes further.

Students are introduced to the realities of music as a creative craft, a collaborative process, and a professional industry.

Through lessons, band experiences, workshops, and special events, students gain exposure to the broader world of music creation and performance.

This approach helps students develop:

  • Strong musical foundations
  • Creative confidence
  • Collaboration skills
  • A deeper understanding of music as an art form

A Safe and Supportive Learning Environment

Musicology is committed to providing a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment for students and families.
Our instructors are experienced musicians who care deeply about helping students grow in both skill and confidence.

Instructor credentials, background checks, and certifications are maintained to ensure students learn in a safe and professional setting.

Our goal is to create an environment where students feel encouraged to explore their creativity while developing discipline and musical excellence.

Artist Connections & Inspiration

Musicology students may also have opportunities to meet and learn from professional musicians.

Special events and guest visits can include meet-and-greet opportunities with national recording artists, giving students a chance to hear real stories about creativity, perseverance, and life in the music industry.

These moments inspire students and help them see what is possible when passion and dedication come together.

Growing the Musicology Community

Musicology is built around the idea of creating a community centered on music, creativity, and mentorship.

Students, families, instructors, and professional musicians all contribute to an environment where learning music becomes an exciting and meaningful experience.

As Musicology grows, the goal is to expand this community while maintaining the values of creativity, mentorship, and real-world experience that inspired the school from the beginning.
